The Baneservice concept is to satisfy customer needs for machine and contracting services for railway related activities.

 

This comprises:

· Track and structures

· Signal and cable installations

· Contact line installations

· Safety installations

· Special machines and equipment

· Turnkey contractor for railway related services

I have been working for Baneservice since 2001, although i have been working on the Norwegian Railroad since 1991.

 

I am a trackbuilder by trade but i am also a certified railwelder, my job takes me around Scandinavia.

 

I also serve as the union leader for the largest union that organizes about 70% of the workforce at Baneservice.

 

Its a challenging and fun workplace with high tempo and alot of travelling, never making one day the same or boring.

As you can see from a small collection on the right, there are photos from Narvik in the North of Norway.

Flåm to the west near Bergen, Oslo, Stockholm Sweden and Taulov in Denmark.

 

The fun is to see the variations in nature across Scandinavia, it never ceases to amaze me.

 

This year most of the work will take place in Oslo on my behalf, although the company has won som major contracts both in Stavanger and Bergen. During the season i think some of us will have travelled around Scandinavia once or twice, building new tracks or refurbishing existing rail lines.
